FAQ

Is there a fixed Viking BiS list in Hero Siege?
No — and any page claiming exact per-item answers should be read with that caveat. Hero Siege's top-tier item pool is deep and patch-sensitive, so this guide maps slot priorities and the route to fill them, which stays correct even when individual best items change.
What is the Viking's most important slot?
The weapon. The Whirlwind core converts weapon damage into your entire clear speed, so the weapon slot graduates through every rarity tier first — from leveling drops to Satanic and peak-tier pieces.
Do I need peak-tier items to clear endgame as Viking?
No. The build's durability identity means a Satanic core with honest affixes clears Inferno and deep wormholes — peak-tier pieces upgrade the timeline, they are not the entry ticket.

BiS as a Roadmap, Not a Shopping List

A warning before the fun part: Hero Siege’s endgame item pool is deep enough that any “here are the five exact items” list goes stale with the next balance patch. What stays stable is the structure underneath — which slots the Whirlwind Viking needs filled first, what each slot’s job is, and the routes that fill it. That structure is what this page maps.

Slot Priority: Damage First, Immortality Second

The Whirlwind core defines the order everything else follows:

  1. Weapon — the whole build. Spin damage scales from the weapon, so this slot climbs the rarity ladder first: a functional leveling weapon, then a Heroic placeholder, then a Satanic endgame spine, then a peak-tier Angelic or Unholy finisher. Every other slot waits.
  2. Durability slots — the Viking tax office. The build’s identity is standing in danger; life, mitigation and regen affixes on armor slots are what let the spin stay switched on inside packs instead of dancing at their edge.
  3. Attack-speed and spin-upkeep affixes — the multiplier band. More uptime and faster spins convert directly into clear speed without touching the rotation.
  4. Utility last. Movement quality-of-life and convenience affixes are real but never urgent — the starter progression fills them by accident.

Filling the Slots: Three Routes

Drops — the default engine

The Viking farms the way it fights: face-forward. Wormhole pushes, Uber rotations and high-difficulty routes produce the tier pressure that upgrades each slot on the ladder’s schedule — weapon first, because the weapon’s power keeps the farming loop fast enough to feed everything else.

The market — the gap closer

The reworked Tarethiel Market is where a stuck slot becomes a solved one. The Viking’s BiS path uses it for two moments: buying the mid-tier weapon that unblocks endgame entry, and closing single armor slots where farming RNG has stalled. Both are gold-income problems, not luck problems.

The Codex — the weapon project

The weapon slot is exactly what the Codex of Eternity exists for: targeted crafting attempts at the damage affixes the spin scales with, converting farmed materials into attempts instead of waiting for the right base to drop.

When a Viking Slot Is “Done”

  • Weapon: when upgrades stop changing your clear speed — for most of a season that is a high-tier Satanic piece, with peak-tier as the stretch goal.
  • Durability slots: when the content you run stops threatening them — if Inferno packs no longer dent you, the slot is done earning upgrades.
  • Everything else: when the affix serves the spin and nothing in your farming loop is begging for the slot’s budget.

That “done” definition matters more for the Viking than most classes, because the build’s durability buys it the luxury of farming indefinitely — the discipline is knowing which slots have already paid off.

Viking BiS FAQ

Should I prioritize a second damage stat or more defense?

Through the transition phase, defense wins — a dead Viking farms nothing. Once Inferno content stops threatening you, shift budget toward the multiplier band: attack speed and spin upkeep.

Do specific unique items change the priority order?

Occasionally a unique power reshapes a slot’s value, and patch notes reshuffle individuals constantly. The slot map above survives those changes because it follows from the build’s mechanics, not from any one item.

Does this roadmap work for party play?

Yes, with one shift: in groups the Viking’s durability does even more work (holding packs while ranged classes damage them), so the durability band graduates slightly earlier than in solo play.
